The Incandescent Light Bulb is Burning Out

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Today, President Bush signed a new energy bill that requires the phasing out of incandescent light bulbs from 2012 through 2014. The bulbs are to be replaced with compact fluorescent (CFL) bulbs.

Not only is it green to use CFL bulbs, but it saves a lot of money too. And that is why I’m writing this post. To estimate how much money you can expect to save, look at your electric bill and subtract a 12% savings.

Here’s another tip: start switching over now. Don’t wait until you’re forced to make the change because your savings will start whenever you do. That’s seven years of savings between now and 2014!

  1. We have been using CFL for a long time now. They are more expensive than the regular bulbs but it’s more of a long term savings. Our power rates went up 50% here in Maryland and every bit helps.

  2. By the way, are you still using your old blog? Can you still take PPP posts there? There have been $25+ for any rank/location. I try to check every now and then and still manage to get good stuff.

  3. Thats great news. Incandescents had their time and now it’s their time to step down. Hopefully this news will bring more people to using CFL’s. It’s a real waste that so many people still use incandescents.

  4. I have some of each but I’m making the switch on all of them as soon as they burn out.

  5. I do PPP on my book blog, but lately there have been only 2 or 3 offers and none of them are any good. That blog has an alexa in the 1 millions, and 0 PR which is why the offerings are slim. I’m not signing up this blog until I see what’s up with social spark. All of the paid posts I do on this blog are from payu2blog.

I am no longer using my old blog. It redirects to this blog.

I’ve seen some of the higher paying offers, but they are always grayed out.

  6. Very true, and soon they won’t have a choice. And the world will be a better place. ;)

  7. Hey Congratulations to the Redskins! I really didn’t expect them to win vs the Vikings who has an awesome running game with Peterson.

Have a Merry Christmas Laura and family!

  8. Thanks, it was a good game. I’m so excited about Sunday’s game against Dallas. It’s down to the wire and it determines the playoffs or not, as I’m sure you already know. ;)

I hope you and your family had a great Christmas.
