Stop wasting gas (and money!)

I just read an excellent article that highlights six ways we are wasting gas. With gas prices creeping higher every day, it only makes sense to try to conserve and ward off the dreaded empty needle as long as possible. I also learned a couple of new things from this article as well. For example, I didn’t know that it saved gas to turn off your engine. At some point in my life I was told that it burned more gas to restart your engine then to keep it running. But the invention of the fuel injector changed that rule. I also didn’t know that it was okay to drive with a cold engine (albeit gently), even though I have been doing that for years, not to save fuel but because I’m always running late!

So here is the run down of the article:

6 ways you’re wasting gas

1. Racing away from green light
2. Racing up to red light
3. Confusing the highway with a speedway
4. Bumper-buzzin
5. Driving standing still
6. Short hops
