What would you do if there was a rumor that there was buried treasure in your yard?

Dan Deming spent 2 or 3 years looking for buried treasure rumored to be hidden on his central Wisconsin farm using a metal detector. But it was when he wasn’t looking for it that he actually found it. Deming was tearing down a 100 year old shed when a rusty box came tumbling out of the rubble. It was filled with money that dated back to the Depression era.

Unfortunately, the money was in bad condition so Deming turned it over to the U.S. Treasury’s Bureau of Engraving and Printing, which means he will only get the face value of the money once it’s sorted out and determined how much was actually in the box. He plans to use the estimated $1,700 towards a new shed.

Let this be a lesson, if you plan to leave your fortune in your yard, use a weather proof box!
